Library Media Center Vision
In collaboration with staff and students, EMS Library Media Center will provide high quality research sources, variety of literary collections, state-of-the-art technology, and a vibrant learning environment to nourish students to be academically, socially, and emotionally prepared for high school.
Library Media Center Mission
EMS Library’s mission is to maximize the potential of each student for academic, emotional, and social growth by:
- Students will come to the library every two weeks with their reading class.
- Students may check out up to 3 books at a time.
- Books are checked out for 3 weeks. Students need to turn their book in on or before the due date. Students may renew a book twice. Be respectful and return books by due date so another student can check out!
- Students are responsible for all books they check out. Students will be charged the amount to replace book if damaged or lost.
- Students must have a pass from their classroom teacher to come to the library. Students must sign-in and sign-out anytime they are in the library without their whole class.
- During passing period, do no walk thru the library!
- No food, drinks, or gum in the library and library computer lab!
- Computers are a privilege. Be kind to them, including the keyboard, monitor, and mouse! Students must login using their own username and password!
- Students must sign up for a pass before their lunch period, preferably before school.
- There will be 10 study hall passes per lunch period.
- Passes are on a first come, first serve basis.
- Passes will be a different color each day of the week.
- At lunch, students will show principal their pass to go to front of the lunch line, eat their food in the cafeteria, then come to the library. Students must sign in and return their pass.
- Students must be quietly working and following library rules!
- Students who have lunch tutoring cannot come to lunch study hall.
- Lunch Study Hall is a privilege, don't lose it!

- Promoting inquiry-based research skills and fostering creativity
- Endorsing state of the art technology by using SMART interactive boards, iPads, computer labs, educational websites/databases, and eBooks
- Supporting whole class, small group, and individual learning
- Providing a safe, comfortable environment that stimulates learning
